Last Day of Class / Fall 2017

14 Dec 2017

Getting an education is not easy anywhere, but I would say it’s a bit harder at BYU, as they intentionally make things 10x more difficult to keep the high level of education. But I will also say that I wouldn’t choose to study anywhere else because even though things can be challenging at BYU, the environment that they provide helps us to succeed.

Today on campus I was caught by some people who were offering free apples. These small acts of service that we find along the semester makes me think that BYU is a different place. Also, so far all my professors have been so caring, willing to share all what they know, and concerned about our success. Lastly, as a religious university, I LOVE that we have to study the scriptures as a core class. This semester I took The Book of Mormon class, and honestly, this was what kept my pieces together this whole time.

A few things about this semester:

  • I had insomnia the first three weeks of the semester. Which made my brain not work properly so I was behind with the content of those three weeks. Great!
  • I was taking the Econ class (a prereq for the Marketing major), but I realized that wasn’t for me. Dropped it and changed my major.
  • I changed my major from Marketing to Advertising. I realized that numbers are not my thing even though I tried to convince myself the opposite. I am a more creative than a logical person. I’m happy with my decision!
  • Because I dropped that class, I had to get another one to keep being a full-time student, so the only one I found was a Spanish class at 8 am! I told myself that this was the last time I would do this. Listen to me, NEVER take an 8 am class. You will thank me later. ;)
  • I was invited to be part of the Social Media Street Team of the BYU social media department. They are such a cool team, and I feel honored to be part of it!
  • I had a few meltdowns over the semester, but the major one was last Saturday. I went to meet a friend at BYU to study and while I was waiting for her I started to cry and I just couldn’t stop… I cried for half an hour and asked a random guy for a blessing (a prayer to help me calm down). Blessings of studying at BYU. It worked, and later that day I took my first final test of the semester.
  • I took a Pilates class and I found out that I don’t like mat Pilates. I used to do Pilates in Brazil, the one that uses the machines and I loved it, but this one is totally different.
  • I found out that taking a credit class to convince you to exercise is not a good idea. But I still have hope that one day I’ll like to exercise, one day…
  • Last week I had a headache for the whole week. The stress is real.
  • Today I took the Spanish speaking test and the person said that I’m at the high intermediate level! I couldn’t believe myself! She said that the next level is the advanced, the one that teachers are. I’m almost there. This totally made my day.
  • Although all the stress, inconveniences and the crazy life, I have As in all my classes so far, if you are wondering. The stress was real, but I have made it so far. I just need to wait now for the final tests next week to define my self-esteem. LOL.

Algumas coisas sobre esse semestre:

  • Eu tive insônia as três primeiras semanas do semestre.
Requerimentos do governo e tals… Mais tarde você irá me agradecer. ;)
Hahaha.
